These photographs of Mt. Everest were taken in Tibet by family member, Doug Wallinger on a Himalayan trek in October, 2008. All three photos show the North face of Everest - locally called Chomolungma.
Everest-1 was taken at sunset. The climbing route from Tibet follows the northeast ridge to the left of the summit.
Everest-2 was taken from the Friendship Highway in Tibet, approaching Rongbuk. The peak behind the left shoulder of Everest is Lhotse. Everest is on the border between Tibet and Nepal, and Lhotse is in Nepal.
Everest-3 was taken from outside the Rongbuk Monastery, about 8 km from North Everest base camp in Tibet. The West Ridge of Everest is immediately above it - to the right of the summit. The climbing route from the Tibet side follows the northeast ridge from the left-hand border of the photo to the summit. Climbing routes from Nepal are on the other side of the mountain and not visible in these photos.
